After obtaining a Bachelor's degree in political science from UNIL, Emilie Romon went on to obtain a Master's degree in public administration from the University of Berne. She then worked for 5 years at the OECD as a policy analyst, before co-founding the Centre for Philanthropy. She influenced the mindset of governments on how they view foundations and helped foundations work better together.

In 2018, she joined Ashoka as manager of partnerships, before becoming its head in 2020. She has also been a board member of foraus.
