Passionate about the richness of diversity and inclusion, Sylvie Makela is an entrepreneur who wants to have a positive social impact on her environment. She co-founded and runs Tribus Urbaines, a concept of hair salons dedicated to the care and cutting of textured hair (curly, frizzy/afro) worn naturally.

Tribus Urbaines SA aims to launch its own range of hair products, to launch a training label and to open other salons in Switzerland and Europe in the coming years.

Previously, Sylvie Makela obtained a master’s degree in political science at the University of Lausanne and acquired extensive professional experience in the field of marketing, communication and project management within public and private companies.

Nothing destined the entrepreneur to such an adventure. However, determined to fill the gap in the market for inclusive hairdressing salons, she launched her business in 2017.

To her two teenagers, she explains that Tribus Urbaines is like her third child. The demanding little sister that we love so much despite everything.
